赤坂離宮 Akasaka Rikyū

Akasaka Palace is a state guesthouse of the Japanese government, located in Minato Ward, Tokyo, about 3km from the US military Azabu Heliport. Often used for government press conferences and publicity photos. The neo-baroque building was built in 1909 as the Crown Prince's Imperial Palace, designed by architect Katayama Tokuma.

The Aoyama Park South District

青山南公園　The Aoyama Park South District is located in Roppongi, Tokyo. It is behind the National Art Center, designed by Kisho Kurokawa, next to the hill of the Azabu Heliport and the Hardy Barracks, facilities of the United States Army in Japan since 1945.

The Yoyogi National Gymnasium

Washington Heights was a US military housing complex built in 1946 during the Allied occupation of Japan. It was located next to the Meiji Shrine in Tokyo, a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shōken, built in 1920. For the 1964 Summer Olympics, the Yoyogi National Gymnasium, designed by Kenzo Tabge, was built on the site of Washington Heights, and the houses were used for the athletes' village. Today, the site includes Yoyogi Park, the Yoyogi National Gymnasium, the NHK Broadcasting Centre and other facilities.

The Dugway German-Japanese Village A replica of wooden Japanese houses at the U.S. Army's Dugway Proving Ground in Utah. Designed by Antonin Raymond, former assistant architect for the Imperial Hotel, Tokyo to Frank Lloyd Wright. The napalm-filled M-69 incendiary cluster bomb was invented at the site, inspired by the firestorms of the Great Kanto Earthquake, with support from the Standard Oil Development Company. The napalm-filled M-69 bomb was used in the bombing of Tokyo, the Great Tokyo Air Raid (March 10, 1945).

1954. 三里塚教会　吉村順三設計。新東京国際空港の建設に反対し、三里塚芝山連合反対同盟を結成したキリスト教活動家、戸村一作が寄贈した土地に建てられた木造の教会。一作は画家、彫刻家でもあった。	1954. Sanrizuka Church Designed by Junzo Yoshimura. A wooden church built on land donated by Tomura Issaku, a Christian activist and chairman of the Sanrizuka-Shibayama United Opposition League against the construction of the New Tokyo International Airport in Narita. Issaku was also a painter and sculptor.
闘う大木よね　成田空港建設に反対した農民運動家、大木よねをモチーフにした戸村一作の彫刻。1971年、機動隊による空港用地内の自宅の土地強奪に抵抗する彼女の姿を表している。	Fighting Oki Yone Sculpture by Tomura Issaku depicting Oki Yone, a peasant activist who opposed the construction of Narita Airport. It represents her resisting the riot police's land grab of her house on the airport site in 1971.
1969. 新宮殿 1966年、吉村順三による基本設計。焼失した明治宮殿の跡地に建てられた、天皇が国事や儀式を行う施設。	1969. The Imperial Palace Basic design by Junzo Yoshimura in 1966. A facility where the emperor conducts state affairs and other ceremonies, built on the site of the burned Meiji Palace.

A Chronicle of Imperial Décor

The project is based on the collection of the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery. The Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery was built in the outer garden of the Meiji Shrine to commemorate the death of Emperor Meiji. The permanent collection of 80 paintings, 40 Japanese and 40 oil paintings each, was completed in 1926 and depicts the history of modernization and imperialism in Japan, focusing on the life of Emperor Meiji and Empress Meiji. This work is a reconstruction of this collection of propaganda paintings, removing idols, portraits from the collection.

明治記念絵画館のプロパガンダ絵画コレクションから偶像や肖像を取り除いて再構築したもの。明治記念絵画館は明治天皇の死を悼んで明治神宮外苑に建造、明治天皇、皇后の生涯を中心に日本の近代化と帝国主義の歴史が描かれた日本画、油彩画各40点の1926年（大正15年）に完成した絵画コレクションが常設展示されている。

New Post Office, Washington, D.C.
The New Post Office in Washington, D.C., is part of a complex of historic buildings in the Federal Triangle. It is located across 12th Street NW from the Old Post Office and next to the National Mall. The building was originally constructed in 1934 to serve as the headquarters of the Post Office Department. It was one of the first buildings to feature New Deal–funded murals and statues, a program established by the Roosevelt administration in response to the Great Depression. The murals depict the history of the American frontier through the development of the postal service. However, some of the murals have been criticized for their portrayal of Native Americans and have been covered up. In 2013, the building was renamed the William Jefferson Clinton Federal Building in honor of former President Bill Clinton.	ワシントンD.C.のニュー・ポストオフィスは、連邦政府三角地帯にある歴史的建造物群の一部、旧郵便局の向かい側、12番街北西に位置し、ナショナル・モールに隣接している。この建物は1934年に郵便局本庁舎として建設され、当初は郵便局省の本部として機能した。ルーズベルト政権の大恐慌対策、ニューディール政策による資金援助を受けた壁画や彫像を初めて採用した建物のひとつとして知られている。壁画は郵便事業の発展を通じてアメリカの開拓史を描いている。しかし、一部の壁画は先住民を描いた表現が批判され、覆い隠されている。2013年、ビル・クリントン元大統領を称えてウィリアム・ジェファーソン・クリントン連邦ビルと改称された。

Yokota Airspace

Anti-Airport Farming

The airspace over central Japan has been under the control of the U.S. military since the end of World War II, known as “Yokota Airspace”. It extends north from the Izu Peninsula of Shizuoka Prefecture to Niigata Prefecture. Until now, commercial aircraft have been unable to enter this airspace for landings and departures at Tokyo's Haneda Airport without U.S. military approval.

The Narita International Airport was constructed approximately 60 kilometres (37 miles) from central Tokyo during the 1960s and 1970s. The Japanese government demolished many farms and villages to build the New Tokyo International Airport. Farmers and students protested in the 1960s and 1970s. Some activists who protested the eviction became farmers and lived on the airport site. The airport opened in 1978, and many villagers left after a long struggle. There were also disagreements between radical groups and villagers in the 1980s. Three farms stayed open inside the airport, stopping the expansion until 2023.

But now the war has lasted for nearly four years. Despite the best that has been done by everyone – the gallant fighting of the military and naval forces, the diligence and assiduity of our servants of the state, and the devoted service of our one hundred million people – the war situation has developed not necessarily to Japan's advantage, while the general trends of the world have all turned against her interest. Moreover, the enemy has begun to employ a new and most cruel bomb, the power of which to do damage is, indeed, incalculable, taking the toll of many innocent lives.

3. Should WE continue to fight, not only would it result in an ultimate collapse and obliteration of the Japanese nation,
but also it would lead to the total extinction of human civilization.
Such being the case, how are WE to save the millions of our subjects, or to atone ourselves before the hallowed spirits of our imperial ancestors?
This is the reason why WE have ordered the acceptance of the provisions of the joint declaration of the powers.

4. WE cannot but express the deepest sense of regret to our allied nations of East Asia, who have consistently cooperated with the Empire towards the emancipation of East Asia.
The thought of those officers and men as well as others who have fallen in the fields of battle, those who died at their posts of duty, or those who met with untimely death and all their bereaved families, pains our heart night and day.

The welfare of the wounded and the war-sufferers, and of those who have lost their homes and livelihood, are the objects of our profound solicitude. The hardships and sufferings to which our nation is to be subjected hereafter will be certainly great.
WE are keenly aware of the inmost feelings of all of you, our subjects.
However, it is according to the dictates of time and fate that We have resolved to pave the way for a grand peace for all the generations to come by enduring the unendurable and suffering what is insufferable.
Having been able to safeguard and maintain the Kokutai, WE are always with you, our good and loyal subjects, relying upon your sincerity and integrity.
Beware most strictly of any outbursts of emotion which may engender needless complications, or any fraternal contention and strife which may create confusion, lead you astray and cause you to lose the confidence of the world.
Let the entire nation continue as one family from generation to generation, ever firm in its faith in the imperishability of its sacred land, and mindful of its heavy burden of responsibility, and of the long road before it.
Unite your total strength, to be devoted to construction for the future. Cultivate the ways of rectitude, foster nobility of spirit, and work with resolution – so that you may enhance the innate glory of the imperial state and keep pace with the progress of the world.
