| Buzludzha Music : The Internationale Built on Buzludzha Peak in central Bulgaria, the Monument House of the Bulgarian Communist Party was inaugurated in 1981. It commemorates the events of 1891, when a group of communits organised secretly in the area, leading to the foundation of the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party. At the entrance to the monument, the first few lines of the socialist anthem 'The Internationale' are displayed in concrete text. 'Arise, you despised outcasts, arise, you slaves of labour! Oppressed and humiliated, stand up against the enemy!' Inside the main hall, there are mosaics commemorating the history of the Bulgarian Communist Party, as well as large portraits of Vladimir Lenin, Karl Marx, and Friedrich Engels. At the top of the hall is a mural featuring the communist hammer and sickle, alongside a quote from The Communist Manifesto: 'Proletarians of all countries, unite!'. Fourteen mosaics in the corridor depict the labour of ordinary workers. The building was used for Communist Party celebrations until the fall of communism in 1989. Since then, maintenance has ceased and the building has been closed. Many of the mosaics have been destroyed due to age, weathering and vandalism. Conservation and preservation efforts are ongoing.
